How do you describe your own art practice?
I have a kind of daily routine how I spent my time at the studio. From little doings such as cleaning the corner of the studio, reading newspapers of the last days or beginning with new piece – they are all included in my art practice, I would say. You can call it a perpetual survey process.
Which question or theme is central in your work?
In my work I deal with questions how to create physical presence in an economical way.
Beaufort Series can be an adapt example. For this sculpture series I use only thin aluminium tubes, which are connected with wire and are installed in flag holders on the wall. The structures oscillate between lability and stability. Each piece has a number (0-12) and it represents a specific number of wind force at the Beaufort scale. Although I use particular spaces or structures of space in order to create certain atmosphere.
What was your first experience with art?
I often visited the “Folkwang Museum Essen” as a young boy. I was so fascinated from the surrealistic paintings. The fluidity between ordinary life and imagination.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
