“The pages of new magazine Solomiya show a different side to Ukraine than the one we see in the daily news reports. The magazine is a remarkable achievement, its loosebound structure giving it an instant, portfolio feel.” — Magculture

The magazine Soлomiya was founded in April 2022 by photographers Vsevolod Kazarin from Kyiv and Sebastian Wells from Berlin to photograph young people on the streets of Kyiv and to showcase the work of other young artists from Ukraine.

On 132 pages, Soлomiya No 2 pays special attention to the stories of people from the now-occupied territories of Luhansk, Donetsk and Crimea, who have already been confronted with the war since 2014. The cover of the new issue was designed exclusively for Soлomiya by renowned artist Alevtina Kakhidze.

In addition to photography, film, contemporary art, literature and, most importantly, the everyday life of young people in Ukraine, the magazine attempts to convey the complex reality of life under the permanent gaze of Russian aggression through the works of talented and already well-known Ukrainian artists.
