In his work he initiates collaborations between the contemporary visual art and other professional worlds, such as those of religion, business, politics and entertainment. Protagonists from many fields inscribe themselves in Jankowski’s art, which is carried out in close exchange with mass media formats and their production mechanisms. The focus lies in the collective invention and the questioning of its power: testing the image.

Christian Jankowski has studied at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg/Germany. He has been represented in numerous national and international exhibitions and biennials. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, NY, the Tate, London, MOCA, Los Angeles, the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin and others. In 2016, he curated the 11th edition of Manifesta, becoming the first artist to assume this role. Since 2005 he has held a professorship at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. He works internationally and lives in Berlin.
