How do you describe your own art practice?
Photo(graphic) related works. With a focus on publications, xerox and large scale printing.

What was your first experience with art?
As a teenager making bad Cezanne lookalikes in watercolour in our back garden. In the weekends sometimes graffiti. But later (from the age of 17) I’ve got serious private lessons in drawing and painting. The teacher became a good friend. He was playing a lot of underground records and showed me the good books and literature like LF Celine, Salinger and a lot more.

What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Definitely Music. Nowadays a lot of krautrock related bands. Like Harmonia, Dieter Moebius, Beak from Bristol and Terry Riley. All groups with long spun out compositions, related to my own graphic compositions.

What do you need in order to create your work?
A clean and clear space with a lot of paper, black ink and my own set of (Xerox) printers. I’m really into trash, but not in my studio.

What are you working on at the moment?
The third publication in collaboration with Hans Gremmen for FW Books: a graphic composition with New York City as a decor. It’s about building materials, scanned and printed surfaces. The city as a claustrophobic rabbit hole. We are in the exiting editing phase, it will published out before summer.
I’m also just finished some works for literature magazines Terras and nY.
In 2017 there are also possible collaborations with Sara Bjarland, Taco Hidde Bakker, Erik Lindner and Neeltje ten Westenend.
