How do you describe your own art practice?
I merge various unrelated media into a unified picture. Often incorporating found objects as well as found drawings, doodles and notes made by others.

Acrylic, mixed media on canvas
20” X 24”
Which question or theme is central in your work?
Merging dualities such as representation and abstraction, flatness and the illusion of depth, beauty and ugliness, past and future, etc. into reconciliation. The result is an amalgamation of objects, the representation of objects (both photographic and rendered), text and abstract ideas.

Acrylic, thread, copper wire, wood on heavy weight paper
12” X 18” X 2”
What was your first experience with art?
I was drawing as far back as I can remember. Starting with crayons then markers then pastels. In high school I carried a sketchbook everywhere and would draw my surroundings. My mother encouraged my interest and took me to the Albright Knox in Buffalo (where I grew up). I can remember the first time I saw a Van Gogh.

Acrylic, ink, collage, garlic, copper wire on Yupo paper
11” X 14” X 2”
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Natural cycles such as Earth’s water cycle (precipitation, evaporation, condensation, collection) – the constant flux and interconnectedness of all. The imagery often alludes to natural regeneration such as mitosis and germination.

Acrylic, pine cone, cherry branch, wire on Yupo paper
8 X 11 X 4”
What do you need in order to create your work?
I like to work in natural light. Otherwise I am a mixed media artist and use what is at hand.
