Giuseppe Solinas

Tique | art paper asks six questions to an artist about their work and inspiration.
This week: Giuseppe Solinas.

Artist Giuseppe Solinas
Lives in Cavaglià (BI), Italy

How do you describe your own art practice?

I no longer describe it, I inhale it from the nostrils and then I exhale it from the mouth or vice versa. I let the sense unfold in consciousness, whatever the means of expression I use to do something.

What question or theme is central to your work?

I have no more questions or answers. I am what I do, the rest no longer matters now <], [> too many conceptualisms have made contemporary art a servant of analytical thought. Reason is not able to grasp anything concerning the spirit: /: the senses that come after the five senses perhaps sense something ()

What was your first experience with art?

Drawings on philosophy books while the teachers explained what can be explained. Infinite pen drawings on philosophy books while professors explained what can be explained. Endless signs on the books as I listened to what the teachers said of what can be said.

What is your biggest source of inspiration?

The individual sense in all its forms. The perfume, the spontaneous and instinctive gestures of living beings, the states of the human soul such as embarrassment or shyness. But also platonic loves or the decision for life choices.

What do you need to create your work?

Of my senses and my body. But let’s say that the camera is fundamental because almost everything for me starts from that.

What job or artist surprised you recently?

There were Tahitian guys in Genoa, on the road. They worked with metals and stones inspired by the animals of the zodiac. Very strong, spiritual stuff: able to work with your hands like few others. Others near them danced on the main street .. the walls also vibrated, they were full of vital energy.
