As a result of paint dripping off the body, graphic representations of blood are created, along with spatters, stains and prints of hands. Using his painting techniques, Qureshi transforms these representations into exquisitely detailed miniatures that, in contrast to the spatters and stains, are representations of life.
This work was motivated by a bomb attack on a busy, lively square, very close to Qureshi’s home in Lahore, which transformed it into a place filled with death and terror.
